Internship or Trainee Application Declined or Stuck: We Take a Look

What We Do When Another Sponsor Said No
Your host wants you, but the sponsor declined your training plan, or your application has been stuck for weeks. Tell us where you stand. We look at the reason, and if it’s legally possible, we get it through with a sponsor we work with.
What You Get
- We read the sponsor’s reason and your training plan before we tell you anything.
- If there is a way, we show your host what the plan needs and submit a new application.
- No quick no: either it’s truly impossible, or it’s a yes.
- Your sponsorship payment to VisaNerd back in full if the sponsor declines your new application.

How We Take It On
- 1Tell us where you standYour program, your host, your dates and the reason the sponsor gave.
- 2We look at the reasonMissing documents, an unclear training plan and an activity the rules don’t allow need different answers. We tell you which one it is.
- 3New application with a sponsorIf there is a way, we go through the DS-7002 with your host, check the revised plan and submit a new application.
- 4Your DS-2019 and visa appointmentYou receive your DS-2019 and book your appointment at the US consulate.
Already in the US?
Let us know whether your program is ongoing, shortened or finished. Your sponsor must approve a host change. Submitting a new application does not give you permission to continue training while it is pending.
What We Don’t Do
We won’t secure approval by renaming an activity. If your host’s plans fall outside the rules, they must change; otherwise, we explain that the program cannot work. Any previous decline is also disclosed to the new sponsor.
FAQs
Does a decline by one sponsor stop me from applying again?
A decline alone does not block you. You can make a fresh application to another sponsor before your program begins. The reason for the refusal is what counts. An activity that the rules prohibit cannot be approved by a different sponsor either.
Do you charge more because I was declined before?
No. Our standard prices apply: interns from €1,505 and trainees from €1,875 including health insurance, scholars from €3,900 with health insurance paid separately. The initial review of your case is free.
What if the new application is declined as well?
Your entire sponsorship payment to VisaNerd is returned to you. For interns and trainees, only a site visit already carried out at your host is excluded; the sponsor charges €250 for it.
I’m a scholar, not an intern or trainee.
Choose your program in the check on this page. We look at scholar cases the same way.
The Bottom Line
A decline is not the end. Send us the decline, your training plan and your host’s contact, and we start right away. If it’s legally possible, we get it through.
