Can I Apply Directly to CIEE?

In short: No. Major U.S. sponsors like CIEE do not accept direct applications from individuals. If you contact CIEE directly, they will refer you to us as their official partners. We handle the pre-screening and preparation of your documents in your time zone. Only when everything is perfectly prepared does your application enter the final sponsoring system.

Who is Officially Listed?

The role of “Designated Sponsor” is a sovereign task assigned directly by the U.S. Department of State. Only these sponsors are authorized to register participants in the SEVIS system.
The division of roles:

  • CIEE: The legal sponsor in the USA (Designated Sponsor).
  • VisaNerd: The official representative (International Representative) managing the process in Europe.

DS-2019: Who Does What?

The DS-2019 form is your ticket to the embassy appointment. We prepare the entire application with you, but the sponsor (CIEE) is the only entity that can physically issue this document and register it in the government’s SEVIS system.

This two-stage process serves your safety: we ensure your Training Plan (DS-7002) complies with guidelines before the sponsor provides the final legal guarantee to the U.S. government.

Why can’t I go directly to CIEE? +
