How We Write the Library

The VisaNerd Library explains the US J-1 Exchange Visitor Program for interns, trainees, scholars and host companies in plain English.

Primary Sources Only

Every fact comes from an official source: the regulations in 22 CFR Part 62 and 8 CFR, the US Department of State's J-1 Visa website, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Immigration and Nationality Act. Each section names its source.

Checked Every Month

You can see the date of the latest check on each term. Every month we compare the terms with their sources and update what has changed. Amounts that change often and that even official pages show incon­sis­tently, such as the visa application fee, we don't print; we point to where the current amount is published.

Information, Not a Sales Pitch

The Library is free general information, not legal advice. It is published by VisaNerd, which helps people with J-1 internships and traineeships, but the terms don't advertise any service.
